Blending traditional shoemaking techniques and innovative biomechanics for a modern, handcrafted boot made to last.
Background
Formerly known as Happy Valley Boots and Sandals, Good Company is led by Vlad Chvorun, a footwear innovation specialist who has worked directly with brands like Redwing, Nike, and Adidas as both consultant and engineer on many concepts and projects. Along with his role on the founding team that helped launch Altra Running, he has collaborated extensively with industry titans like Roy Smith, Tinker Hatfield, and Bruce Kilgore, and also designed the patented “Shoes That Grow”. Vlad’s extensive background in biomechanics and high-performance shoes shows in Good Company’s boots, incorporating concepts and innovation typically reserved for performance shoes to create a durable, high-quality, and comfortable boot that fits and feels like no other.
Beyond crafting high-quality footwear, Good Company also provides at-risk youth in Vlad’s home country of Ukraine gainful employment and self-efficacy. His studio’s program works directly with at-risk youth to supply training in a skilled trade, fair wages, and career opportunities through the craft of shoemaking. Good Company believes in sustainability in footwear, only utilizing natural materials such as cork and leather rather than artificial foam and padding. The ultimate goal of Good Company is to create shoes that look and feel as good on your feet as it does on the planet.
The Problem
The majority of boots available on the market today are mass-produced at the lowest cost possible, cutting corners and taking shortcuts to maximize the bottom line. Unfortunately, churning out shoes in this manner usually results in sacrificing quality of leather, durability of construction, and level of comfort for the sake of profit.
Our Solution
Good Company came into existence out of a need for high-quality footwear that was timeless and accessible. We set out to make shoes made the way shoes used to be made — shoes that would endure season after season, year after year.
Utilizing classic American techniques rarely seen in modern shoes such as virtually indestructible puritan stitching and a unique stitched-through construction, our boots are able to be resoled and designed to last the test of time.
Developed and designed around the biomechanics of your foot, Good Company boots have a natural-shaped footbed, heel cup, and arch support that molds to your feet. And while majority of the boots on the market rely on synthetic insoles and foam padding, we only use full leather for the insole and natural cork filler for forefoot cushioning. The result is a boot comfortable right from the box, with zero break-in period and a fit that only improves over time.
