Legendary Scotty of @Strange Parts (1.95M subscribers) took on a challenging project with the NestWorks C500, and we’re thrilled he could dive into such an ambitious build on a tight timeline!
He pointed out, ‘The C500 cuts faster thanks to a much more powerful spindle than anything else out there,’ and captured the machine’s real strength perfectly: accessibility. As he put it, ‘The prospect of having something that wouldn’t require me to spend hours and hours on CAM programming… that’s huge.’
James from James Dean Designs doesn’t hold back, summing up his review by saying, “Probably the coolest thing I’ve genuinely ever used.” He added, “I’m excited to explore how far it can go.” Highlighting its industrial-grade build, he noted, “For a desktop CNC machine, it really doesn’t get much stronger than that — full metal frame, linear rails, and a 20mm steel bed.” He concluded that “it truly automates as much of the process as possible — from calibration to tool change — so you can just hit go and let it work.”
@James Dean Designs demonstrates the NestWorks C500‘s capabilities, showcasing its proven power on 304H stainless steel, confirmed accuracy and robust build, and the streamlined Automatic Tool Changer (ATC) that enables the effortless production of high-quality, complex parts.
Sami, founder of the YouTube channel Sami Luo Tech and a Shenzhen-based creator known for his energetic and honest tech reviews, was visibly impressed, summing up his video by saying, “It’s basically an industrial factory shrunk down to your workbench — and it works exactly as advertised.” He continued, “The C500 makes CNC easier than ever. You don’t need to be an expert to get perfect results.” Sami concluded, “This is what the future of desktop manufacturing looks like.”

NestWorks is incubated by Elephant Robotics, one of the world’s top educational robotic arm brands. The idea was born from necessity: after spending over $1 million USD annually on outsourced manufacturing, we decided to build our own CNC machine. Traditional options were too cumbersome, requiring specialized CAM engineers and a 50 to 70 step setup. Leveraging our robotics expertise, we created NestWorks to reinvent the CNC experience, reducing the process to just three or four clicks and making professional metalworking as fast and accessible as modern 3D printing. To share this journey, we invited legendary Strange Parts to our office to pull back the curtain and give everyone a peek at the machine and the team behind it.
